Finally, a little common sense

There's a nice piece in The State today cautioning against selective tax hikes on unpopular products. But the best line is on taxes in general:
The truth is that lower taxes, including those on cigarettes, benefit our state’s economy and have a significant economic multiplier effect. High taxes — in some areas, the highest in the United States — are bad for our economy.
Someone offer this man a regular column. Now.

The horror of TheState "newspaper" (quotes intentional...this rag is a newspaper in name only) is that its' editorial staff is so completely sold out for big government and so totally in favor of HIGHER taxes on ANYthing that there will never be any serious space given to dissenting opinions. Warthen and 'Ross-Scoppe' (My what an arrogant twit! Memo to Cindi...pick a name and go with it you vapid moron!) are deathly afraid of real debate...they depend upon having free reign in the editorial pages of their mullet wrapper and the little people in South Carolina had better just get used to it. Sickening. It is taking WAY too long for this birdcage liner to fold up. Fortunately, there are alternatives, and failure of thestate is just a matter of time. Fritz

Check out Columbia City Paper for a report on Mayor Bob and Council Woman Devine's illegal campaign contributions. Yet another story The State refuses to cover.

Perhaps they want to keep the Three Rivers Music Festival advertising, instead of reporting on the behind the scenes sham and the waste of taxpayer's money.

gees... the people that write this crap are such idiots. In an article today about the woman whose hand was severed they reported that she is "expected to recover"... hmmm, let's see she has about a 20% chance of keeping the reattached hand that will never move or feel any sensation ever again. Well I guess that sounds about right.
