When Facts and Spin Collide

The State has a curious approach to facts.

Fact: Governor Sanford won his primary election by a 2-to-1 margin.

Post and Courier Headline: Sanford Beats Challenger in Republican Race

The State headline: 'A Stunning Blow' for Sanford

Comments:
It was a "stunning blow" to Sanfraud. With his "political experience" and his millions (much from out of state) he showed up miserably against a small town underfunded doctor who ran a grass roots campaign.

I sincerely hope that conservative candidates who are for smaller government and lower taxes continue to suffer these "stunning blows" that the above idiot and the liberal morons on the editorial board at "thestate" are so excited about. Hey fool, your guy LOST. That you can spin this into some sort of perverted form of victory gives me hope that you're really as delusional as you seem. Bottom line, keep it up. If you are satisfied with losing then I'm DAMN sure satisfied with winning. Fritz

"Fritz" responded by attacking me with comments calling me "idiot," "moron," "fool," "perverted," "delusional," and then he used the word "DAMN" (in capital letters like shouting). That reflects poorly on Fritz's character and on the host of this site for allowing such childishness. Next thing I expect is "Fritz" will challenge me to cross a line in the sand and knock a stick off his shoulder. He might even kick sand on my shoes.

By the way, "Fritz's" candidate has not really won anything. Sanfraud is very vulnerable; we all know it! And, Dr. Lovelace was not my candidate.

Actually, I am going to find another Republican to write in for Gub'ner. Right now I am considering Mr. G. Bridges (one of my heroes), Will Folks (a close friend (not) of Mr. Bridges), Andre (who still might pull it out but most doubt it), Rick Quinn (who lost - again!) or Fred Flintstone.

I think all are available, or they will be soon.

I apologize for the name calling. No need to go there and I was wrong to do it. I won't kick sand in your face at the beach, I promise...but to be honest I thought you were made of a little sterner stuff. My points stand however. I said what I said and I believe I'm exactly right about it. You sound very much like Lee Bandy, Cindi (With an "I" dang it!) Ross-Scoppe, Weener Warthen and others who apparently either hate or disbelieve what Governor Sanford stands for. But to attempt to say (as you and they all have done) that his primary win is a "stunning blow" is just ridiculous. Calling what happened Tuesday a "stunning blow" for Sanford is so over-the-top, so ridiculous and so "wishful thinking" on your part that it seems to me one should be forgiven if he swerves into a little hyperbole and calls some idiots idiots. As is always true in politics, you just may be right...you certainly seem to have a fervent hope that Sanford loses. We'll see, but I ain't buying the "stunning blow" idea being floated and touted by the loony liberal left. Fritz

"“It was a stunning blow,” said Francis Marion University political scientist Neal Thigpen, a GOP activist."

The above quoted from The State.

The source of the quote is a "GOP activist" and a "political scientist" from Francis Marion University (a highly regarded University). Why blast The State for a comment by a "GOP activist?"

"Fritz" and this site's host need to make up his/their collective mind(s). Is this about hating The State or about partisian politics?

Duhhhh...

Maybe this site should be:

Sadly, "Fritz" still stoops to name calling: "idiots" "looney."

Well, since he is paid to do it, "we" do not take (much)offense.

By the way, all I said was "Fritz" might kick sand on my shoes. He's not tall enough to kick sand in my face. Well, maybe with a ladder.

"Fritz" needs to wake up and smell the Gub'ner's "pig poop." Gub'ner Sanfraud has clearly shown how weak and ineffective the office of the Gub'ner is. Check his veto record. 'Nuff said.

We close:
Elmer Fudd for Gub'ner.
He can't do any worser.

Sincerely,
"Porky Pig"
First Cousin to "Pork & Barrel"
"Dat's all Folks"
Oppps, Sorry Will. Didn't mean to drag you into this pig poop again.

"Stunning blow," Neal Thigpen should be embarrassed. If he were truly a GOP activist he would understand that in almost any election among grassroots Republicans there will always be a significant "protest vote."

Every "grassroots Republican" believes they have a unique corner on how every elected official should vote/govern and "feel obligated to vote their conscience to send a message."

I think the original point of the post is that The State chose to spin a 2:1 victory as a "stunning blow" in the headline of the article. This point is valid.
