He's lost it

In his appraisal of the immigration reform debate in America, Brad Warthen opines that it all boils down to a tasty tomato-and-cheese pie. Really:

But I know that as long as the pizza is this good in this country, they’re going to keep coming.

Read the whole thing. In the history of logical coherence, this has to be the absolute bottom. It just has to be.

What brainless idiot runs this site?

Will Folks. He has been denying it, but you can always tell when Will is not telling the truth - when he is talking or when he is posting on one of the anonymous blogs he runs.

And, he is not running it because he is brainless. He is being paid.

There are too many literary and not enough pop culture references for me to conclude that Folks runs this website. I think you're giving him too much credit.

No. It's him. It's been confirmed by highly reliable independent confidential anonymous sources close to skunk willie himself.

Will Folks already has his own website where he frequently criticizes The State. Why would he need another?

Nevertheless, Will's a great writer and sharp commentator. If you say I remind you of him, I'll take that as a huge compliment. If you want to stroke my ego, keep making that comparison.

At last - a public denial here from the infamous "Bill Smith" aka Will Folks. "Will" published a previous denial on one of his other web sites over at fitsnews.

"great writer" ? "sharp commentator"? "huge compliment"? "stroke" your ego ?

Listen people, Will Folks' fingerprints are all over this stupid site.

Besides, as mentioned above, it has been confirmed by highly reliable independent confidential anonymous sources close to skunk willie himself. And those sources never lie.

That was no denial. All Bill Smith said was Will Folks already has a website and he asked "Why would he need another?" That's no denial.

It sounds like Mr. 'Smith' decided to take a pass on the question. Maybe someone has it right. Maybe this is Will Folks in action.

Anonymous is right. That was not a denial by 'Mr. Smith.' This site does smell a little like Will. Like dead fish.

On the other hand if it is Will Folks wouldn't you expect him to post more often? After all he seems to have plenty of time on his hands to blog.

Maybe one of the governor's plumbers will update us soon. After all they suckered Will into the mystery elected official with a "Strom problem" story.

Personal to Will - Don’t take a compliment for not deleting opinions unless you plan to post this (which you previously deleted).

Previously deleted by sic(k) willie from one of his other blogs:

Will, you repeat the same tired old paid political rhetoric every time.
(About the voucher scam.)

Vouchers are a complete and total scam on taxpayers, and you know it. And vouchers are an insult to the children of S.C. Vouchers only make another attempt at “separate but equal,” and everyone knows what a scam that was. How can you sleep at night trying to push this scam on S.C.? Fix public education for all children.

Yea, yea, yea. More rhetoric, rhetoric, rhetoric paid for by SCRG political money. We would ask your support in making them be honest about where they get their funding, but honesty would be the problem there. It certainly is not a “grass roots” organization.

We know there are schools in S.C. that need help. Take the time to watch Corridor of Shame: www.corridorofshame.com

Properly fund all S.C. schools. Fix the underlying problems created by poverty and racism. Make sure all public schools have the proper learning environment for students and teachers. Vouchers do nothing to address the real needs of children and education.

Vouchers are a total scam that will only leave those who need help the most farther and farther behind. You and SCRG know that yet you don’t care. That’s why vouchers are a scam.

Vouchers have been defeated year after year because he majority of the public and Legislature recognize the scam. And they will continue to be defeated while honest efforts by responsible people continue to work to improve education for ALL children. Not just a few.

Vouchers will allow poor children in South Carolina, right now, to obtain the quality education to which they're entitled.

I think it's morally disgusting that opponents of vouchers are willing to allow poor children to continue to obtain a disastrously bad education because they refuse to release their hold on their failed ideologies and dogmas.

Shame.

The last post is a lie. SCRG and voucher supporters know it, and that's what is morally disgusting.

Want another example of morally disgusting? Just read about the governor's veto of the choice plan that would have allowed more choice among public schools.

The veil over the voucher scams keeps getting thinner and thinner. Voucher scams reek of dead fish.

I am sickened by these sleazy voucher schemes. The people of SC rejected snake oil peddlers when they voted in Jim Rex. For real truth go to the Corridor of Shame, Morally disgusting, dead fish...etc.

I try and I try, but I just can't say it as well as Cindi does.

Odd post. Is that sarcasm?

You forgot the ugly elephant in the room named poverty, stupid. And the 500 pound gorilla of latent racism sitting on its back.

The SCRG snake oil salesmen don't care about poverty and racism.

Vouchers won't fix anything. All they will do is drive the wedge of separate but equal even deeper in S.C. We tried separate but equal. Remember? It failed. Just the way vouchers fail.

Our friend Gervais Bridges is posting new proof of the voucher scam: http://scbarbecue.blogspot.com/

Voucher Week, pt. II: Undue Out-of-State Influence

So what does Gervais mean when he says that South Carolinians for Responsible Government's legislative candidates are funded “almost entirely” by the “out-of-state” voucher lobby? Is it just rhetoric? A little embellishment? Or is it fact?

I’ll let you decide.

A good place to start would be last year’s GOP primary in House District 7, in Abbeville & Anderson Counties. In that contest, now-Representative Mike Gambrell defeated a SCRG-backed candidate named Dan Harvell by about 200 votes.

Who is Dan Harvell? I have no idea, other than almost a legislator. But a quick look at Mr. Harvell’s campaign disclosure shows that something was amiss over in House District 7 last year. From April to July, a span which included the June primary, Mr. Harvell raked in $29,025 in campaign contributions.

Of that $29,025, how much was from out-of-state supporters of the Put Parents in Charge voucher bill?

$25,000. Out of $29,025. That’s 86%. Take a gander at the disclosures if you don’t believe it:

Four maximum contributions from the 73 Spring Street, NY, NY address of millionaire libertarian Howard Rich:

Howard Rich: $1,000
Ashborough Investors: $1,000
Spooner LLC: $1000
West 14 & 18 LLC: $1,000

Four more maximum contributions from a Denver, Colorado address:

Alex Cranberg $1000
Long Canyon, LLC: $1,000
Azimuth Energy, LLC: $1,000
Aspect Energy, LLC: $1,000

And $1000 checks from the following voucher enthusiasts, among others:

Eric Brooks of Pennsylvania
Donna Brooks of Pennsylvania
Paul Farago of Oregon
Janine Yass of Pennsylvania
Kermit Waters of Nevada
Joe Stilwell of New York
Arthur Dantchik of Pennsylvania
Joseph Rich of New York

Take note of these names - chances are you'll see them again soon.

In all, Harvell for House cashed twenty-five $1000 checks from out-of-state - or about $20 for each voter who ultimately pulled the lever for Mr. Harvell.

Where were SCRG’s alleged 200,000 grass roots supporters during this influx of out-of-state cash? MIA? AWOL? Some other military acronym?

I don’t know. But this is what Gervais means when he says a candidate is funded almost entirely from the out-of-state voucher lobby. 86%. I’d be worried if these folks provided even a third of a candidate’s funding, but 86% is just ridiculous.

Bogus grass-roots groups, duplicitous donations, and undue out-of-state influence. Folks, this ain't how our political system is supposed to operate.

But if you think 86% is bad, well - to quote Bob Dylan - "Now ain't the time for your tears." It gets worse.

Find out how much worse tomorrow, when Shark - er, Voucher - Week continues.

I didn't believe The State when they said there would be no layoffs: City Paper article

Let me know when we earn a link under better newspapers, because I keep seeing our content in some of the ones listed.

That's the "market" at work. The same "market" voucher supporters claim will fix education. What if Enron had been running our schools?

Joe, maybe you can use the "market" to grow City Paper to be the largest in SC. Or, to solve world hunger and the education problems in SC. Using "the force" would be more effective than the voucher "scam."

And over on his other blog at FITSNEWS Will said:

“…And for probably the millionth time, the blog “I Don’t Believe The State” is run by some old dude out in Lexington County, at least as far as we know. We’ve got nothing to do with that website…”

Originally posted at Will's other blog - FITSnews:

Will Folk's curious love/hate obsession with The State is well documented.

It may stem from his first childhood when a rolled up newspaper to his hindquarters was probably something he was very accustomed to. He's older now, so his punishments come from Courts.

It's also mysterious why he who claims to support "choice" elects to voluntarily read a paper for which he seems to have contempt. Many feel they see his fingerprints on an idontbelievethestate.com blog. Will has denied involvement claiming it's run by "...some old guy."

But, his feigned contempt for The State didn't prevent him sending a blubbering letter to the editor titled "My Side of the Domestic Violence Story" back when he was first struggling with his stained image.

The State published his sob story and received heat from readers for giving him a forum to defend his actions leading up to a conviction for Criminal Domestic Violence.

Odd that he needed them then, but he has such contempt for them now. We wonder if they would print a letter from him now. Probably.

So, McClatchy is adjusting its business to market conditions, and that seems to be news to Will. It's the same market forces that would drive private schools to reduce services or close if they didn't make margin. Just another reason vouchers are a scam.

Watch out for The State. By continuing to present views and opinions that Will and other crackpots don't agree with The State exposes us to real progress. Who knows, the Legislature might someday really fix education for all children. Vouchers won't help - they're a scam.
